Helping a Mother Through Hard Times

February 25, 2019

The Sheriff’s Office recently hosted Shyla Thomas and two of her children, Zoe and Zac Jr. After hearing about their story, Sheriff Hatcher knew he wanted to help.

Shyla’s husband, Zac Thomas, suffered a serious medical condition and has been in a coma for several months. During this time, Shyla has been handling all of the day to day operations of their family and caring for their children, all while dealing with her own recovery from a serious medical condition. Their situation has become increasingly challenging since Zac is no longer able to work and Shyla makes frequent trips to Spokane to be with Zac in the hospital.

Sheriff Hatcher, his command staff, deputies, and clerks, put together gifts and gift cards to help this family have Christmas this year. Our hearts go out to the Thomas family. It’s our honor to help this deserving family during this difficult time.
